Experience the life of a Swahili resource creator. Witness their creative process in crafting content that connects cultures and preserves Swahili heritage.
A little about me: I was born and raised in Kenya. At home, growing up my family spoke Swahili, and with it, we also embraced the culture. Because it is my mother tongue, I have always found joy in speaking it, reading it, and teaching others the magic of Swahili.

I create and share resources designed to teach the Swahili language so that others may experience the joy and wonder that I experienced growing up. It saddens me that many families do not regularly speak Swahili in the home. They may have a parent who is a native speaker, but children may not learn or practice the language. Because of this, Swahili is dying; and consequently, the culture is dying as well.
I created this blog because I want to reverse that. If we don’t do something now, it will be too late. I want to revive and preserve the Swahili language. I want our children to be able to speak Swahili fluently as their parents did and their parents before them. Because when the language dies, the culture dies as well.
When I was teaching Swahili as a second language part time , I searched far and wide for resources to help me teach, but I just could not find what I needed online. It simply didn’t exist. While this frustrated me, it also inspired me. I spent a considerable amount of time creating my own resources from scratch. My students loved what I was putting together for them, and it helped them develop their knowledge of Swahili.
I love the Swahili language because it really is quite easy to learn as it uses the same letters as English and has a strong culture attached to it; and because the language has many derivations and origins, it is linked to other languages and, thus, cultures. Because I want to be a part of what keeps the Swahili language and culture thriving, and knew what I was doing was helping students learn Swahili, I decided to create a business– Swahili Magic– dedicated to creating engaging and helpful Swahili resources.
It is my hope to increase awareness of this beautiful language and culture, and that after visiting my site and my Teachers Pay Teachers store, you find at least a few resources that will help you learn and teach Swahili.
